Jewellery Care

Simple care of your jewellery will prolong its longevity and beauty.

Keep your jewellery in an individual pouch in a cool dry place, preferably an airtight jewellery box, humidity results in tarnishing.

Be careful not to allow pieces to rub together as abrasion can damage the finish.

Always put your jewellery on after applying any cosmetics, hairspray, perfume and body lotions. These will dull the finish of your stones and tarnish your silver.

Avoid swimming or bathing whilst wearing your jewellery, as chemicals and chlorine can affect the stones and the sheen on your silver.

The colour of some stones may fade upon prolonged exposure to light.

Although most semi-precious stones are hard, they need to be treated with care and can be split from a hard blow.  Therefore, they should be protected from hard knocks and not dropped.

Cleaning your jewellery

We do not recommend liquid cleaner or silver dips.

Silver should be cleaned with a soft specialist silver jewellery cloth.

Gems and pearls should be gently wiped clean with a moist cloth.

Very porous stones such as turquoise should be cleaned using an untreated, dry, soft cloth only.

Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean gemstones or silver as they can cause scratching.

Liquid Silver

Our liquid silver is of a quality 925 silver. However, because of its flat structure it is sometimes more prone to tarnish than other styles. We therefore recommend a little extra care to be taken with it to maintain its lustre. It should be stored between wear, in a suitable container e.g. a jewellery box or a jewellery roll.

It must not be sprayed directly with hairspray, perfume, body spray or similar products.

A regular clean with a good quality silver cloth is always a good idea. Liquid cleaner or silver dips must not be used. This is due to the use of stones, silver beading, and the delicate thread for the threading.
